Transpower owns and operates the National Grid – the high voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across New Zealand. In 2017, Transpower relocated their Wellington offices and critical facilities, most notably their National Coordination Centre, to the newly refurbished Dominion building at 22 Boulcott Street, now known as Waikoukou.
As part of this move, TenFour were engaged by Transpower following an RFP process, to complete a phased technology fit-out of Waikoukou as well as their Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch offices.
Due to the critical nature of specific rooms, the technology solution provided needed to be both reliable and functional to ensure Transpower’s high level services and operations were uninterrupted by failure. Critical spares are on hand for hardware failures and in the event of a major event, overflow can be managed by remote sites. Crestron Fusion, asset management software, also allows for remote help desk and device monitoring for quick issue resolution, data collection and reporting.
